You folks came highly recommended to me by family and friends. My last visit was my 4th one. I had a burned out passenger side headlight, or so I thought. The problem turned out to be more complex, and the solution cost nearly $1,000. The aspect that bothered me was that apparently the problem can be averted by replacing the bulb. This solution would prevent the drivers side from costing me another 1,000 down the line. Yet I was the one who suggested that avenue of prevention, not the mechanic. Strange. RITA M

Brought my trick in for an oil change, fix a light bulb and to deal with a loud squeak in the suspension. Either I did a poor job of describing the squeak or they didn't look very hard. Said the old belts were squeaking so replaced those ($230). Picked up the truck, bounced the rear end and the squeak was as loud as ever ( would drive us crazy anytime a passenger rode in the vehicle). William got a can of WD40 and fixed it in less than a minute. Not sure I would have sprung for the new belts at this time (although they probably were needed) if the squeak was fixed initially. The car maintenance staff even stayed late the evening of to start the repairs so it could be available the next morning. I came out of an appointment in San Mateo to discover that the starter on my car had died. The AAA guy came out and was able to get the car started one last time, but there was no guarantee that it would start again if I turned the car off. As I was traveling home to Walnut Creek, I called the Service Outlet and explained my problem. I ended up driving my car directly to their facility where they were waiting for me. By now it was almost 5pm. When I arrived, they pulled the car into their bay and kept it overnight in their secured building. First thing the next morning they repaired the vehicle and provided shuttle service from my home. They made a potentially stressful situation very unstressful. I was very pleased with their service and would definitely use them again. GENE C

A fairly large service on a 2005 Pilot. As always, we appreciate their willingness to breakdown service into roughly "must" "should" and "coming up" -- these guys don't try to exaggerate your way into selling you an engine mount. I know what an engine mount does and is for and am fully aware it's the sort of maintenance that can be (but ought not be) put off. These guys don't pitch you that kind of service without explaining its relative criticality. No one likes dropping $2K on maintenance. It was a timing belt, tensioner, engine mounts and brakes. I appreciate that these guys appreciate it and let you mull over your own options even as you are swallowing the bitter pill of it all. So, happy to have had the service done and the car's in good shape for a while more. GARY S

When I came to pick up my car, upon asking about the oil leaks, I was advised not to worry, they were just "normal" Toyota oil leaks. I did not want the leaks dripping on the garage floor. I am disappointed that you recommended a timing belt chain replacement when, as far as I can tell, my Corolla does not have a timing belt. It seems to have a timing chain, which I am sure does not need to be replaced every 90,000 mi. I was also dismayed by the cost of the replacement part, as I found prices of about $75 online for a mass flow sensor. Even the "genuine Toyota" part was available for about $138. The $219 I was charged seems a bit much. Therefor, I would recommend your facility with a caveat. SYLVIA F

I'm a regular. The staff is always friendly. Caesar is a gem. I was only there for an oil change and other parts were inspected. Problem - I was told a nail found in left rear tire. I went to Big O who found no nail in the left rear, but did find a nail in left front! I guess I should be happy that a nail was found at all or I would have ended up with a flat. I trust their service. They tell you what is wrong, what is critical to fix immediately, and what can wait a bit if you don't want to do it all at once. Their prices are lower than the dealership's where we have gone for years. The Walnut Creek's Honda dealership's good customer loyalty discount is $50 maximum even though we have purchased 5 Hondas from them and currently own 4 and planning to get another one. Where is their loyalty to us? Service Outlet's prices are competitive, they also give a generous customer loyalty discount, they are easy to work with, they do a great job, personnel are knowledgeable and friendly and they will drive and pick you up if need be. We have switched all our service to them and trust their work. JEFF F

Always nice people. However, two things: I had a radiator hose replaced. The hose was about $33 and labor upwards of $140 I believe. I asked what the hourly rate is and no one could tell me. I'd like to know as I can't imagine it taking too long. A neighbor had looked at the hose and said if he had the part he could have repaired it in about 10 - 15 minutes. Also -- I always rely on the little gauge inside on the dashboard that goes from green to yellow to red indicating when the car needs servicing. It wasn't reset to green. How can I do this? Thanks.

Also, we would be more than happy to reset your maintenance light if you drop by. We usually reset the light at each service, usually not the interim oil changes. Please call William at 283-3133.
